Leaving the Territory
It's time to switch trains...
Hello friends, every day has been a severe weather threat, work is crazy, and I’m fighting some sort of cold. The reason for this post ? It’s time for me to make a change.
Last time
If you haven’t read it already, here is the latest DC In My Lifetime:
Remember when I did an installment on Marvel as an April Fools’ Day joke and killed the momentum of the DC In My Lifetime the day before?
The Big Story
Despite the dramatic picture, I’m not quitting the newsletter or the DC In My Lifetime project. I am, however, leaving Substack. My first newsletter was through Revue. I liked being able to link my newsletter to Twitter and cross post to reach my active followers. When Electric Spaceboy bought Twitter, I jumped ship to Substack three weeks before Revue was killed. Now, it's time to leave the territory again.
I try not to be too political on here. We live in a very divided world and I just want to be a place where older readers can reminisce about books from their youth, or newer readers can discover all the things that I’m learning on this reading journey. Recent events on Substack have led me to conclude that it’s time to go. Substack has been called out for giving a platform to Nazis, and now Andrew Tate is listed as one of their New Bestsellers.
Let’s get this out of the way. Yes, there are terrible people on every platform. Even if he’s been on here for several years, Tate has pushed to the top of the bestseller list and he is now prominently featured on the home page. So this is my stop on this train. I will not judge anyone for staying. I will continue to support anyone that is writing and creating in comics. This is my decision for my own reasons.
What Happens Next?
What happens next is the show goes on. On May 5th, I will post my next newsletter from Beehiiv. On or around May 4th, I will import my subscriber list to Beehiiv. I fully expect to lose some subscribers. If that is your decision, I want to thank you for the time you gave me to be in your email life.
I will be making two slight changes to the newsletter. In order to have a streamlined brand, the newsletter known as Exit Zero will switch to Punch The Timeline to match my podcast and social media accounts. Also, I will start using the pen name Jarrod Bearden-Whitely. I believe that the posts on Beehiiv will come from this name.
So there you have it. Name changes for everyone and everything, change of venue, judgment free zone. In order to entice you to stick around, here is a preview of the next few installments:
The Night They Actually Killed Batman
I Read Marvel’s Team America So You Don’t Have To

Your friend on the internet,
-J
